Hi Reader –
Last week, I shared three of my favorite Evernote features from 2024 that didn’t make their top 10 list. This week, I’m highlighting three more tools I use every day to streamline my workflows, stay organized, and save time.
These favorites are long-awaited improvements — the kind of changes we Evernote users have been asking for over the years. Evernote’s updates in 2024 weren’t just about new features—they also focused on making existing tools better. These “Quality of Life” improvements are the kind of changes we’ve been asking for, and they’re designed to help Evernote users work more efficiently every day.
Here’s my top 3 Quality of Life improvements from 2024:
1: Auto-Updating Table of Contents
The Quality of Life team wasn’t responsible for the new Table of Contents feature released last year, but they were responsible for making it auto-updating – and that’s the part I love! It’s super functional and it’s one of my favorites improvements for the whole year.
With the Table of Contents feature, any changes you make to headings are automatically updated in the TOC. No more manual edits. This keeps everything in sync and makes navigating dense notes effortless.
Finally! Evernote now lets you leave shared notes and notebooks you no longer need. This is a huge improvement for decluttering your workspace and focusing on the content that matters most.
Why It’s Useful:
I often collaborate with clients and teams, which means I’m frequently added to shared notebooks. But not everything stays relevant forever. With this feature, I can leave shared content without asking the owner to do it — this keeps my space clean and focused.

I covered this feature in detail last year in an October newsletter. Check out the full post here.
3: Save the Sort Order of Your Notebooks
Custom sorting preferences for each notebook have been a lifesaver. Now, I can sort client notebooks by "date last updated" to surface recent work, while keeping my personal notebooks, like Recipes, organized alphabetically.
How It Works:
Sort each notebook in a way that fits its purpose, and then tell Evernote to “Save current view options for this notebook”. Evernote will remember your preferences — even across devices. This is a tiny change that makes a big difference when you’re juggling multiple projects.

These new options have made a noticeable impact on how I organize and manage my Evernote account. What’s your favorite feature from Evernote’s 2024 updates? Hit reply and let me know — I’d love to hear how you’re using them!
